If you look into the heartbreak behind the latest headlines or even your own life, there is ultimately someone responsible, right?
But what if blaming a person is like looking only at a symptom rather than the core disease?

Is it possible that beneath the pain there is a deeper cause?

Is it possible that what we see today — the hurt, the hatred, the death, struggle — is all a part of the longstanding battle between good and evil?

Good. Evil.

We are more likely to quickly assign ‘good’ to those who think like us and ‘evil’ to those who think differently. But as we follow this root of hatred back, it’s quickly obvious that it isn’t that simple.

God created man and woman and there was no pain or death.

‘God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.’ (Genesis 1:31)

The first humans gave in to the temptation of Satan, the deceiver of the whole world (Revelation 12:9). They sinned (acted in rebellion to God) and evil, pain and death entered the world. (Genesis 3:1-7)

Every subsequent person has also sinned.(Ephesians 2:3) (Romans 5:12 NIV)

But God did not leave us a prisoner of our sin. He sent Jesus Christ to defeat sin and death and restore us to God.

For if the many died by the trespass of the one man (Adam), how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! (Romans 5:15b NIV)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NIV)
