I have to be smart and successful
You are promoted at work because of your expertise with clients.
But what if my grades slip? What if I make a mistake at work?
The only kind of love the world had to offer is conditional and fickle.
So what does someone not of this world offer? What does God say about me?
Interestingly, when we ponder this question, instead of feeling more secure in how “loveable” we are, we come face to face with the realization that actually, there is little that is loveable about us.
We read about how a perfect and righteous God looks at our actions:
“…all (are) under the power of sin. As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.’” (Romans 3:9b-11 NLT)
And as if that wasn’t hard enough:
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23 NLT)
God isn’t like anyone else. His love is different.
“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. ” (Romans 5:6-8 NLT)

Within the truth of the Bible, everything you have ever hungered for in terms of an enduring love is answered in Jesus.
